"Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ."
Jude 3-4
"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ"
Titus 2:11-13
Many believers have thought that grace simply means that we will always receive forgiveness from God no matter what we do; so we assume that we can live in any way we choose to live and feel we can always go back and ask God to forgive us and He will.
There are 2 sides of grace-
(1)REDEMPTIVE GRACE: (what Jesus did on the cross and how He shed His blood for our sins), most of us know this part. And this is the part that cleanses us when we sin.
(2)ENABLING GRACE: (what the Holy Spirit produces in us). The grace of God is not just to help us after we sin, it is there to keep us from sin in the first place.
The second portion of scripture says the grace of God appeared to teach us to deny "ungodliness and worldly lusts".
